Accumulations at the End of the Line
In the San Francisco Bay Area

Rather than singular instances, this primer prior- itizes a layering that emphasizes multiplicity. In this multiplicity there is a potential for “flow” rather than “form” where space is left open to users of various identities and with various intentions.

The following six case studies are organized by the duration of their respective accumulations. Where the first example relies on an instantaneous accu- mulation of street activity and the last was formed by a gradual accumulation that took place over many thousands of years.
